2010 is upon us and needless to say it does not feel like it. So many good and bad events have happened in the past 12 months that I am more than excited to start 2010. I made a few new years resolutions. First is to be better with my money. I have a serious shopping problem especially when it comes to shoes, anyone who knows me knows that, and I have to be better at managing my finances on what is essential and not. Also, I made a resolution to make more time for myself and stop worrying so much. I devot a lot of my time to my friends and family and as graduation is upon me I need to start planning and figuring out the year ahead of me. When I have free time I am going to keep it to myself and start looking ahead. I also worry a ton about riduculous things that need no worry. I hope this year I can acomplish all three of those resolutions. I feel like every year I made some but I never stick to them. I guess we will see what happens. What are you new years resolutions?

Pantone names Turquoise color of 2010

Pantone, the global authority company on color and provider of professional color standards for the design industries, has named turquoise the color of 2010. Far from the mimosa color of 2009, Pantone picked turquoise because it is a relaxing, welcoming hue.

Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of Pantone Color Institute® explained that “In many cultures, Turquoise occupies a very special position in the world of color. It is believed to be a protective talisman, a color of deep compassion and healing, and a color of faith and truth, inspired by water and sky. Through years of color word-association studies, we also find that Turquoise represents an escape to many – taking them to a tropical paradise that is pleasant and inviting, even if only a fantasy.”

The color can make a bold statement to many outfits whether it is in the form of jewelry or clothes. Regardless this color is one to look out for.

Believe it or not even celebrities can be replaced. First example Madonna, after two years of being the face of Louis Vuitton the celebrity has been replaced by model Lara Stone for the Spring of 2010.

Next up Julia Roberts, not replacing anyone but becoming the face of Lancome as the Global Ambassadress, meaning she is an ambassador but is also married to an ambassador.

Finally the one and only Megan Fox is the new face of Armani underwear and jeans, replacing Victoria Beckham. Fox is said to make towards $2 million for the deal and her first campaign will be out this January.

Zac Posen for Target

Zac Posen, a noted designer out of New York has labeled himself the new designer that is launching a line for Target. Guess the recession is hitting everyone. The line will be launched internationally and online from April 25th to March 30th. The price is yet to be pinpointed, but to follow the lead of Target's reasonable numbers, it will most likely be affordable. Make sure you check for it.

More Ways Than One

One of my favorite things to do is take an article of clothing and use it in several outfits. This can be done with scarves, sweaters, shoes, even dresses. An essential article of clothing that all women must have is a little black dress, a fancy one and an everyday one. I dressed up my room mate in a lbd to show you how you can mix and match a must have item to either look glamorous or casual

Dressed for a night out, you can wear the dress as is with fancy jewelry and high heels. The dress this way can be worn with regular heels or boots.

Many people dont try it, but what they may find is that most casual dresses can be turned into skirts. Add a fun top and you wont be able to tell it's a dress.

Lastly, the dress can be worn casually. With tights and boots (with or without heels) this style is good for enjoying the day or going out for lunch. If you want to fancy it up a bit, just add a nice bag.

It's been a while, I know, but to be completely honest I let Thanksgiving get the best of me and I did nothing but watch Say Yes to the Dress and Cake Boss for the past 5 days, and its been glorious. But, now back to business and what better way to return from break than to see so many deals. Black Friday was psychotic as usual and Cyber Monday broke my bank account, but in good ways.

One company that I have recently discovered is Mountains of the Moon Eco-Fashion. Created by Melissa Baswell, Mountains of the Moon pairs vintage pieces with modern lines and unique detailing. Victoria Secret Round-Up

I wouldn't be much of a fashion blogger if I didn't recap the Victoria's Secret Fashion Showed that took place last week. The outfits were amazing and crazy, as always, and Heidi Klum who had her baby just 6 weeks ago, put on her stilettos and strutted down the runway, looking gorgeous.

The big outfit of the night was the $3 million dollar bra that Marisa Miller got to wear, but to be honest this bra doesn't compare to the previous big listing bras we've seen in the annual show. Regardless $3 million is $3 million so of course I had to mention it.

Angels return to NYC

This Friday the annual Victoria's Secret Fashion Show will take place in NYC, the first time since 2005. The show will air December 1st on CBS and will host returning angels like Marisa Miller and possibly new angel Rosie Huntington-Whiteley (who is said to be the cousin of the Queen of England), but a few favorites, Heidi Klum and Adriana Lima may or may not make an appearance due to pregnancies (it was reported on the 16th that Lima gave birth to a baby girl, Valentina Lima Jaric). Like a penpal, Free People have decided to do a craft swap for the Holidays. They have done several in the past for holidays like valentines day and christmas and they are continuing the idea this year. All you do is submit your name, address and email address and they send you a buddy to make a gift for. You have until December 25th to make a gift and send it away! You can make anything from headbands to bookmarks, even a toothbrush if you wanted, you can make anything and that is the fun in it. Its a great inexpensive way to meet someone new and show off your creative ability, and also get a free present, and who doesn't love something free? You have until November 27th to sign up and you can do so at the link on the bottom. I just did and I need ideas on what to make, help me out!

After Halloween I cant help but skip over Thanksgiving, obviously because Christmas and my birthday are coming, but I love the atmosphere of Winter. I like the smells, the cheerful mood everyone is in when the first snow falls and the amazing food! I'm Italian so when I go home all I smell is food coming out of the oven and it literally makes my mouth water.

This Christmas/Bday however I am not asking for much. As everyone knows times are tough in this downward spiraling economy and I figured my parents have already paid for my college (not cheap) tuition, so the least I can do is be reasonable this year. The things I am asking for are simple, some expensive but only a few items, and most things I have wanted forever. These are the big things I am asking for this year:

Chanel has always been known for its elegance and classy look. From fragrance to clothes and luxurious handbags, Chanel is one of the highest names in High End fashion, but the new line, featuring Lily Allen, has left me confused and mostly uninterested. I for one have always been a fan of Chanel bags and think that they will never go out of style, but I sincerely hope that these bags too, and maybe when they become a trend I will be kicking myself for saying these things, but realistically I dont see that happening.

With Halloween behind us and Thanksgiving over the horizon it seems as if candy overload and fall feasts will never escape us. I for one ate more candy than I thought imaginable, not saying I didn't love it, and now I am preparing myself with turkey eating pants. Halloween was a success I cant say I got the style award, my outfit consisted of a yellow construction paper symbol of batman and a trash-bag as a cape. My room mates however definitely took the creative and stylish awards for the weekend dressing up as a box of Franzia, Kat-Von-D from Miami Ink, a Nuva Ring girl, Barbie, and Alex from A Clockwork Orange. Throw in batman and you've got a unique looking group of gals, pictures will be posted later.

This past weekend got me thinking how creative the concept of Halloween is and how good people look when they are stepping out of the norm. My room mate Erin for example, dressed up at Kat-Von-D, if you don't know who is she, she's the former Miami-Ink then turned LA-Ink tattoo artist. she has tattoos all over herself including hands, neck, and face, and can rarely be seen without crimson red lipstick on. It's a hard look to pass off but my room mate nailed it, making it seem as if she too should have stars above her left eye. I will post a picture later, but my room mate was as close to identical as you could get, and she looked as if she should normally have tattoos everywhere and vixen style makeup. Halloween in general just makes me think that people should step out of the norm and experiment every now and then, they might find something they like.

Ill have to admit, I've been a little lazy the past few days with everything. My apartment is a disaster, my room looks like Hurricane Grace came through, I don't hand in my articles until minutes before deadline, and I stare at my computer blankly as if it's singing me lullabies. I need a 5-hour energy or better yet more than 5 hours of sleep to reboot this body of mine. This weekend I plan on doing some intense relaxation.

One thing I havent stopped doing though, is looking at bags. As you can tell from my posts I talk about bags a lot and am starting become more obsessed as the days passed. I have had to research high-end suitcases for our next style issue of OceanHome and came across gorgeous Gucci, Louis Vuitton (obviously) and Hartmann bags. I will put money on it that almost every girls dream is to own the Louis Vuitton luggage set and this homegirl isn't any different. I would kill for the duffle or hardwood case, but that's what dreams are for.

Mustard has also been big with me and I'm loving the Dooney and Bourke Leather and Exclusives collections, but I wont shy away from the other colors either. Winter is for more subtle colors usually, but I am thinking bright now a days and am leaning more towards blue, yellow, and reds as part of my wardrobe.

I want to know other peoples opinions, what are your favorite bags or dream bag? If its a no-name or high-end brand who cares tell me and I'll post a few. Maybe look into a few of them as ideas for my collection. Whatever your style is, share it.
